Love Desire & Riches is a must see Melbourne exhibition by The National Trust showcasing collections on The Fashion of Weddings. Cristina Re was commissioned to create magnificent Paper Couture headpieces and accessories, including a Paper Couture wedding gown, to complement the collection of over 50 famous and rarely seen wedding gowns and accessories sourced from around the world.

On display until 30th of September 2014 at Rippon Lea House and Gardens, the exhibition comprises a wide ranging exploration of over 200 years of marriage.

Where romance is never without drama, at Love Desire & Riches a selection of fabulous costumes from great moments in literature and film are placed along side real life love stories of the women and men of Melbourne.

Visitors to the Love Desire & Riches exhibition are encourages to write a wish on an origami flower, which is formed in stages throughout the exhibition. The origami flower is then tied onto the wooden wedding bower creation in the exhibition entrance.

The exhibition’s vast collection spans over 200 years of fashion, including pieces from the world-leading designers such as Valentino for Princess Marie Chantal of Greece. A mini retrospect of leading Australian designers including Akira Isogawa and Collette Dinnigan showcase their fashion career. Other celebrity gowns include dresses designed for Jennifer Hawkins (Maticevski) and Kyly Clarke (Alex Perry) to film and television pieces worn by Kylie Minogue (as Charlene in Neighbours) to Kate Winslet, Gwyneth Paltrow and Meryl Streep.
